Il-galdarun ta’ qis mdaqqas li kien jintuża fit-togħlija tal-ħwejjeġ. F’ħafna drabi il-ħwejjeġ ta’ persuni li kien ikollhom kuntatt ma’ pazjenti jew persuni li kienu morda bit-tuberkolożi,  bid-deni irqiq jew inkella mill-ġdiem, kienu esposti għal ċertu mard li kien jinfirex fuq il-persuni oħra. Kważi kull familja kienet tuża’ il-galdarun fl-aħħar mitt sena. L-għamla ta’ din ir-reċipjent kienet tkun tal-ħadid b’saħħtu li kien jiflaħ għall-temperaturi għoljin.

A pot that was used to boil clothes and preserve food in glass jars. Most of the time, clothes people worn that were in contact with patients diagnosed with tuberculosis, undulant fever and leprosy, where exposed to different types of illnesses and therefore their clothes needed to be boiled. Nearly every family in the last 100 years used one of these pots. There are still farmers that grow tomatoes, make sauces and preserve them by putting them in glass jars and boil them in the pot for about an hour. This pot was made of heavy duty metal that was resistant to high temperatures.
