Il-midra kienet tintuża biex idderri l-qamħ. Dan ifisser li meta taqbad l-qamħ maħsud kien ikun mgħaffeġ imbagħad bil-midra terfa’ u l-qamħ jaqa’ fl-art u jinġabar, filwaqt li t-tiben jintrefa’ u jinġabar għalih.
The pitchfork was used to disperse wheat. This was done after the wheat was crushed, then with the pitchfork it was thrown into the air so that the lightweight pieces would be blown away by the wind and the wheat seeds would fall to the ground. These would be collected and the hay would also be gathered and stored.
